I’ve never seen any drama with Kim Soohyun before so I wondered why he’s the highest paid actor in Korea. After this week in IOTNBO though, I see why. There are a lot of amazing actors who made me cry but somehow his acting hits a bit differently. Oof. (“When Kim Soohyun cries, everyone cries with him.” <–I get it now.)
Also master-class acting from Oh Jung-se and Seo Yeji this week too.
Oh Jung-se keeps proving why he’s one of the most in demand male supporting actor in the drama industry currently. In that confrontation scene, he and Kim Soohyun were just phenomenal. Visceral, uncomfortable, and real, I forgot I was watching a drama in that moment. It felt like I was watching people I know fight and break down, and they broke my heart into a million pieces.
And although Moonyoung’s character requires restrained emoting, Seo Yeji does so much with her eyes. It’s hard to play an emotionally-stunted character without feeling like a rock, but she communicates Moonyoung’s hurt with little micro-expressions and a flutter of her eyes. And then when she does explode and break down, she wrecks me, too.
Just read that Kim Soohyun is the highest paid Korean actor rn and I—
It’s what he fucking deserves
